Science Education: Amgen is committed to raising the value of science literacy in the community; attracting bright young minds into the field of science by helping educators to teach more effectively; and improving access to science resources for teachers, students and the community at large.
AASTE: One of the company’s key initiatives in this area is the annual Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence (AASTE). Each year, four Canadian teachers, along with 30 recipients from across the United States and Puerto Rico, are recognized for their extraordinary contribution to elevating science literacy through creativity in the classroom and motivation of students. Since the program’s inception in 1992, Amgen has awarded nearly $2.5 million in North America to educators who have made exceptional science-teaching contributions and who have significantly impacted the lives of their students.

Amgen Canada also continues to dedicate resources to strengthening and enriching healthy living initiatives in the communities in which its staff live and work. Amgen Canada, for example, supports organizations and initiatives local to its operations in Halton, ON, Peel, ON, Oakville, ON, and Burnaby, B.C.
Amgen Canada applauds the incredible commitment and volunteer spirit that drives the many community programs Holding Hands supports. It is with the help of such programs that our communities become stronger, healthier and even more vibrant.
